Kofen® is a sterile ophthalmic solution containing Ketotifen Fumarate - a relatively selective, non-competitive histamine antagonist (H1-receptor) and mast cell stabilizer for topical administration to the eyes.

Indications:
Ketotifen is indicated for the treatment of signs & symptoms (itchy, watery, red & swollen eyes and/or eyelids) of allergic conjunctivitis including vernal eratoconjunctivitis, vernal keratitis, blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, and giant papillary conjunctivitis.

Mode of Action:
Ketotifen is a relatively selective, non-competitive histamine antagonist (H1-receptor) and mast cell stabilizer. Ketotifen inhibits the release of mediators (e.g. histamine, leukotrienes, prostaglandin etc.) from cells involved in hypersensitivity reactions (mast cell, eosinophils, basophils and neutrophils). Ketotifen also reduces the chemotaxis, activation and degranulation of eosinophils.
