Ciprofibrate
Description:
Ciprofibrate is a lipid lowering agent which decreases the levels of serum triglycerides & Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol & increases High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.
Ciprofibrate is a lipid lowering agent which decreases the levels of serum triglycerides & Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol & increases High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.
Indications:
Ciprofibrate is indicated for the treatment of severe hypertriglyceridaemia with or without low HDL cholesterol & mixed hyperlipidaemia when a statin is contraindicated or not tolerated.

Mode of Action:
Ciprofibrate increases VLDL clearance by stimulating vascular endothelial cell lipoprotein lipase activity. Ciprofibrate binds to PPAR-alpha, increasing fatty acid oxidation & reducing triglycerides levels.
