Mode of Action:
Amitriptyline hydrochloride has three major pharmacological actions. a. It inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and noradrenaline, thus reduces depression and increases mood. b. It binds with histamine receptors and produces sedation which is required for patients having depression with anxiety. C. It tights the lower sphincter of urinary bladder and prevents nocturnal enuresis.
